Sixty Years of Patience & Smoke
Troutmans Barbecue opened its doors in Denton in 1964, built on a simple conviction: that the best barbecue cannot be rushed. Whole hogs, rubbed with a dry spice blend passed down through the Troutman family, are slow-fired over hardwood until the meat surrenders — tender, smoky, and deeply flavorful.
What began as a roadside stand serving hungry travelers on North Carolina Highway 109 has grown into a beloved community landmark. Generations of families have broken bread at our long tables, and the smell of hickory smoke still draws people in from all over the Piedmont.
We don't chase trends. We tend the fire. Every cut, every plate, every visit — it all honors the same tradition that started here more than sixty years ago.
